Dear Mr Wilson,
Re: Journalist (ABK35)
I am writing to you to express my enthusiasm for the Journalist position that has recently become available at your organisation. When I read about the vacancy in your publication, I decided to apply for it as soon as I could. As a journalism graduate and a faithful reader of your newspaper, I hope to become a valuable asset to you and your team.
I chose to study Journalism because I am a huge book, newspaper and magazine lover. In the past, I have written articles and reviews on various occasions; for my University’s official newsletter, on my personal blog and as a guest blogger on a number of news and entertainment websites. Over the years, I have grown into a confident, analytical and truthful writer and freelance journalist, driven by my passion for literature and a great story.
I am a flexible and motivated individual with the ability to work well under pressure. I can meet tight deadlines, as well as work outside of my comfort zone. I am always eager to explore new things to investigate and write about in order to inform or entertain my readers.
As can be seen from my attached CV, I am also a keen public speaker and activist. I was part of the debating society at my University, and I took part in rallies in which I spoke to members of the public. My experience has given me excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to explain complicated matters concisely, and linguistic accuracy. I believe that these are the skills that I could use in the advertised role for the benefit of your readers.
I would like to take this opportunity to confirm that I am available for an interview at short notice to discuss my application further for the Journalist position. Thank you for considering my application, and I look forward to meeting you soon.
Yours sincerely,

Dear Mr North,
Re: Broadcast Journalist (Ref: AJ283)
I was recently looking through the vacancies on your online careers website when I came across an advertisement for the Broadcast Journalist position. I would be delighted if you could consider my application for this role and give me a chance to show you and your company the skills and on-screen personality that I possess.
Having worked on live television before, I am able to engage with guests and my co-presenters to deliver an upbeat and modern show by always being willing to get involved with onscreen activities and tasks. My outgoing personality will produce fresh interviews helping me to reach out to and capture the attention of your viewers. Despite feeling at home in a television studio, I am flexible and will work well when sent out to new places across the country to participate in events.
I have learned from experience that even the best-planned TV shows can experience technical problems when performed live, but my quick thinking skills, professionalism and expertise of live broadcasting enable me to deal with these situations calmly and professionally.
The Greenside Cooperation is known for delivering quality and insightful broadcasts. While my bright personality will certainly help viewers to start their day with a spring in their step, sombre and upsetting news stories can call for a serious presenting style. I can keep my composure while presenting these kinds of news stories while still showing a sensitive side so that I can strike up a strong bond with the viewers.
I immensely appreciate that you have taken the time out to review my application, thank you. Please do not hesitate to get in touch on 07987 762 510 if you require any additional information. I look forward to receiving your reply.
Yours sincerely,
