Dear Mr Baker,
Re: Physicist (Ref: #33JK)
I am writing to apply for the above position as advertised in the London Daily, 17 May 2017.
I have an MSc in Physics, and I will be finishing my PhD in the same subject this summer.
My academic studies have given me an in-depth knowledge and experience of matter and energy and their relationship to the world. My specialities include developing sensors, optics, analogue and digital electronic hardware, embedded software and other aspects of product design. I have excellent problem-solving skills and have a clear and logical thought process.
I enjoy challenges and get a thrill by developing novel solutions to solve complex scientific and technologic problems. I have a talent for working with complex numerical information, researching intricate matters pertaining to product design, and presenting findings in a clear and concise manner. I am very aware that as a researcher and scientist, one has to work within a team and as an individual, and I have demonstrated both these abilities on the numerous projects that I have worked on over the past five years.
I am particularly interested in working at the University of Nottingham because of its pioneering research in a broad range of issues affecting people’s everyday lives. It would be an honour to be part of your research team, and I firmly believe that my contribution will be invaluable.
I thank you for taking your time and consideration, and I hope that through my application you will recognise my enthusiasm and skills for this role. Please do not hesitate if you have any questions regarding my application. I look forward to seeing you soon.
Yours sincerely,
