Head of Scientific Research
University College London
9 Gloucester Road

Dear Mr Williams,

Re: Soil Scientist (Vacancy #245)

One of your colleagues, Prof Ashley Graham, suggested that I apply for this position due to my extensive experience in the field. After having read the job specification, I am delighted that I meet all the requirements and wish to be considered for this role.

As can be seen from my attached CV, my studies and experiments in science stretch back more than a decade. I currently hold a Master’s degree in Agronomy & Soil Science from Keele University and a PhD in ‘Predicting formation and stability of uninhabited soil layers’ from the University of Wales.

I have a keen interest in science in general and ecology and hydrology in particular. I have supervised eleven PhD students over the past two years, and I have published more than ten academic journals and papers related to the various branches of biological science.

I have experience of conducting site investigations, carrying out soil/ground studies, sampling of elements, modelling information and producing technical documentation and reports.

I welcome the opportunity to meet you face-to-face to explain how I can positively contribute to your organisation’s continued success. Please feel free to contact me by phone or via email to arrange a suitable time for an interview. Thank you for your contribution, and I look forward to your positive response.

Yours sincerely,
